To my favorite Veterans...

We are so blessed to live in a country that is free. We can speak our own mind. We can start our own business. We can wear whatever we want to express ourselves. {Unless your naked in public, but really, no one wants to see that.} We can choose our own careers. We can create our own path. We decide who will run our country. We have so many rights that are overlooked. These days people complain about so much. We forget that not everyone is free. We forget that our country is great and we are lucky to be living here. We forget that many people live far worse lives then we do here. Most importantly, we forget the cost it takes to be free.

Instead of complaining about what we don't have. Instead of creating fights over issues that may not be relevant. Instead of being upset about Starbucks' red Christmas cup. Instead of violence and hatred. We should all come together and remember what we have because of those who have fought and are still fighting for this great nation of ours. Remember the bloody battles and those who fought them in the past that brought our country to where we are now. Remember the people protecting our rights and fighting for what they believe in. Remember all the brave men and women who have been a part of any military branch because today is their day.

I can honestly say that I have never considered being in the military. The thought of it scares me! And yet, we still have people signing up voluntarily to protect those like me. It is not an easy decision to make and it is a far more challenging job then any that I have held. It takes a strong and brave individual to serve our country and for that, I thank all of you.

I'm beyond proud to be considered a military brat. I wasn't for long, but I was born on an Army base in Ft. Stewart, GA. My parents were both in the Army. My mom had been discharged shortly before I was born and my dad was discharged a few years later. My dad graduated from West Point Military Academy in 1983. He comes from a family of brothers who were also in the military. I constantly brag about them because I am proud to call them my parents. The past several years, I've also been allowed to brag about my father-in-law who was in the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M and went on to be a member of the Army reserves. I have many cousins and friends who have also fought for our country. To each and every one of you, THANK YOU! Today is your day. Accept the thanks and gratitude because everyone who says it to you means it.

So to my favorite Veterans, thank you for being brave, so we can be free. Thank you for being the best parents and parents in law that a girl could ask for. I'm lucky to call each of you mine! Most importantly thank you for being the most amazing grandparents to Chloe. She doesn't even know how lucky she is yet. I'll make sure that when she grows up she knows that her grandparents are all heroes. Our heroes. I love you all!

Land of the free BECAUSE of the brave.
