Fab Friday Five

Oh hey Friday, thanks for stopping by! I've missed you and I'm pretty thrilled you've graced the world with your presence. Not only does your appearance mean that it's the last day of the work week, it also means that I can blog about 5 things and try to find as my words that start with "F" as possible to be this post more fun. Fabulous!

Uno: Birthday
First things first, Happy 23rd birthday to my baby {or non so baby} sister! I love you to the moon and back Emma Roo. You are not only an amazing sister, but a best friend {who I know will never divorce me}. We sometimes fight and it's never quiet, but no matter what we love each other. I'm beyond blessed that God made you my sister. I couldn't think of a better partner in crime to have in this life. I'm so proud of all of your accomplishments and know that you will do big things in your life. You are smart, beautiful, loving, compassionate, empathetic, stubborn and a fantastic person. Don't ever change who you are. I love you Emma and happy 23rd! {P.S. Please don't kill me for posting these pictures on the Internet. You're the one who put them on my computer :)}

Dos: Anniversary
Happy happy anniversary to my parents! 27 years and still going strong. Yes, their anniversary is on my sister's birthday. Talk about a fantastic 4th anniversary gift!

To my momma and daddy: I love you both so much and thank you for sharing all of your love with me. Thank you for teaching me how to love and showing me how to beat the odds. Your love for each other is beautiful and something to look up to. I know that it's not always easy, but despite the times you piss each other off or say the wrong thing or push too hard, you still love one another. Here's to 27 beautiful years together and to the next 27 +. I love you both and I'm really glad that your love brought me into this world as your daughter. I couldn't imagine having anyone else but you. God sure does know what he's doing.

Tres: Perseverance
Okay enough of my sap. Some of y'all my have seen on Instagram that this morning I did indeed run. Surprise, surprise I know. Nothing new. But I was especially proud of my quick 3 miler today. My alarm went off at 6:00am and I immediately thought, "Nope, I'm going to sleep until 7. I'm tired." I reset my alarm for 7:00am and closed my eyes. 10 minutes later I popped up out of bed and got ready. I don't know what it was, but something made me feel like I should just do it! It's safe to say that as always I'm thankful I did. I never regret a run. I already feel like I have a ton of energy to take on the day. Maybe it's just a Friday aurora, but I'll give the credit to the running!

No I didn't run at a 6:51 pace, that was just what my watch clocked as I finished :) Overall pace was 8:39 min/mile

Cuatro: Training
While I'm on the topic of running, I figured I'd give y'all a little insight to my training plan! I am officially into my training for the Zooma Women's Half Marathon in Cape Cod! And it just so happens to fall on my birthday!!! Is that an awesome way to start your birthday or what? Running a half with a bunch of amazing women, followed by massages, yoga and a champagne and wine after party! Oh and did I mention that 3 of my favorite people will be there with me...Ali, Ashley and Charlotte!!! So here is a look at what July training is like for me!

Now I'm definitely not an expert, but I have run several half marathons and I've found a solid rhythm to my training. Not everyone can run 4 days a week, especially if you're just starting out. I base my plan off of the Hal Higdon's Intermediate Half Marathon Training Plan. {This link also explains tempo runs, speed work, race pace, etc.} Then I tweak it to fit my schedule and my body. Friday is generally a flex day for me. If I miss a run during the week, I may make it up on Friday. But guess what? I may not. It's all about listening to your body. You don't want to over do it and injure yourself during training. Especially in this summer heat! If you have any questions about training plans, please feel free to reach out to me! Just remember, I'm not an expert :)
