Have You Forgotten...

...how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

Seriously though Darryl Worley couldn't have put it better, have you forgotten? Here we stand 11 years later and it still feels like just yesterday.

On September 11th, 2001, I was a freshman in high school. I was sitting in my 2nd period Theatre Arts class when my teacher stopped everything to announce that one of the towers of the World Trade Center had been struck by a plane. It took a little bit for all of us to realize the severity of the situation and for it to sink in. As the day continued on, it was as though everyone was walking through the halls like zombies. We went from class to class just to sit in front of the t.v. to see what would happen next. For 4th period I had World Geography. As we all sat around with our eyes glued to the t.v. we saw something we never expected to see in our entire lives. We watched the second tower get hit by a plane live. In my 13 year old mind {yes, I was a baby only 13 years old, nearly 14, and a freshman in high school} the world was about to come to an end.

September 11th will be a day that I will never forget. We should never forget. Remember those who lost their lives in the towers. Remember our heroes that died pulling people from the rubble. Remember the heroes that made it out alive. Remember what our country stands for. Remember that freedom is never free. Remember what our soldiers are fighting for. Remember to always be proud to be an American.

This is a picture I took last year {2011} in front of our local fire department in Pittsburgh. As we drove by it the first time, I couldn't keep my tears in. They just rolled down my checks. Never forget. Two simple words. That's all we need.

Never forget.

Until next time...
With love and God bless,
