A Hunting We Will Go!

Today is the day!!! House Hunting Day!!!
I can't believe it's finally here. It feels like we just moved to Pittsburgh...oh wait...we did...11 months ago! Oh the life of an oil and gas family. I guess I should start getting used to it. At least HQ is in Houston, so I know we'll always find our way home. AND, this next position the hubby is in is for at least 2 years long which is a year longer than the last three rotations. I'm excited for something more permanent and something that is mine. We're becoming home owners and living the American Dream!

Side note: Have you ever heard of No More Rack? It's similar to iDeeli and some of those other sites that offer fun products at super discounted rates. During the holidays, you can invite your friends and there are TONS of free gifts you get just by adding friends. Not that intend to get 500 friends, but if I did, I could get a free iPad 2 with WiFi. All you really need are 10 friends to start getting neat gifts! Feel free to take a look and sign up via my link! You know you want to be my friend :)

Okay, I have a lot of work to get done before heading out for the hunt after lunch! I hope you have a great Tuesday (Monday's over)!

Until next time...

Business as Usual...

...or NOT! While most of you are finding your way back to your normal routines after 4-5 days of bliss, I am sitting in my parents kitchen blogging working. Why you ask? Well, in case you forgot...IT'S HOUSE HUNTING WEEK!!! I am beyond excited to start scouring the streets of North/West Houston to find mine and JP's perfect little home! I'll be sure to update everyone as soon as we have found THE ONE :)

Now, I apologize for my several day absence! It has been a very crazy Thanksgiving weekend.

Thursday was full of family, friends, football (Packers and Aggies!) and TAILGATING!

Friday was our family Thanksgiving and I was sick...all day long. Not one little bit of Thanksgiving dinner entered my tummy. There is nothing sadder than not being able to eat on a holiday devoted to food...and good food at that!

Saturday I was feeling a bit better, but still a little rough around the edges. I finally went to see Twilight - Breaking Dawn Part 1 with my sister and friend Leah. It was definitely a great movie, but due to my fragile stomach condition, there were a few scenes that made me a little queasy! After the movie and lunch at Panera, we decided to go home and bake since it was a cold and rainy day. We made nutella puppy chow and cookie-Oreo-brownie deliciousness.

Cookie-Oreo-Brownie covered in Christmas sprinkles of course!

Nutella Puppy Chow!

I know, you don't have to tell me just how amazing my iPhone photography skills are...
Later Saturday night, several old friends came over for fajitas and game night! We played Apples to Apples and Loaded Questions for HOURS!

Sunday was a wonderful family day. It was the last day the whole family would be together until JP and I make it back for Christmas! We watched football (Go Texans!), helped Momma clean the house and then put up Christmas decorations. It was lots of fun annoying the boys with our Christmas music and cheerful moods while all they wanted to do was glue their butts to the couch and eyes to the television :)

Our Christmas masterpiece!
This week is going to be jam packed with crazy-business, starting with Nikki's birthday dinner tonight! Happy happy happy happy HAPPY birthday to one of the best friends a girl could ever ask for...NICOLE! I love you so much and am incredibly blessed to have known you for 12 (ish) years. I'm even more thankful that you still put up with me and love me for who I am. We've built such a beautiful friendship and continue to grow closer every day. I am honored to be your matron maid-of-honor (matron sounds so OLD) and can't wait for your wedding that is in less than 6 months!

Nikki, me, Emily and (flower girl) Erin on my wedding day!
Happy Monday and back to reality! Christmas countdown...27 days!!!

Until next time...

What I'm Loving: Thanksgiving Edition!

It's Wednesday, Wednesday, gunna get down on Wednesday! You know Rebecca Black's song Friday, but for Wednesday this week? Yes, I went there. In honor of Turkey Day this week, here are a few things that I love and I'm thankful for as well as some awesome Thanksgiving pins! I'm linking up with Jamie from This Kind of Love for What I'm Loving Wednesday!

I'm loving that today is like Friday and that in approximately 6 hours and 30 minutes, the hubby and I will be on our way to the airport and one step closer to home!

I'm loving that Thanksgiving is going to be so special this year since we are bringing BOTH of our families together. We are beyond blessed that not only do our parents get along, but they ENJOY spending time together.

Wedding day! We are SO blessed to have such amazing families!
I'm loving that Miss Andrea and her dad and brother will also be joining us for Thanksgiving this year!!!

I'm loving that we'll be celebrating Thanksgiving on Friday because A&M plays t.u. for the last time in who knows how long on Thursday. This way we can tailgate all day Thursday and recover with a Friday Thanksgiving feast!

I'm loving every minute that I get to spend with my friends in Pittsburgh. I'm going to miss them so much!

I'm loving that as of yesterday, I'm able to run pain free again! I've been having bad chest pain and breathing problems when running {even short distances} ever since I was since about a month ago now. Yes, I was hurting and in pain a majority of my half marathon! However, yesterday I tackled 30 minutes easily on the treadmill.

I'm loving that next week is house hunting week! I'll keep everyone up to speed on our progress via the blog!

I'm loving my Thanksgiving finds on Pinterest! I'm linking up with Michelle from The Vintage Apple for Oh! How Pinteresting Wednesday!

As always, I'm loving my amazing husband and one year old puppy!

This picture is awesome and awkward :) I love them!
Happy Wednesday and safe travels on one of the busiest travel days of the year! Next time you hear from me, I'll be in the Lone Star State!

Deck the Halls

Tuesday is kind of like Wednesday this week right? We're already halfway there! I do believe that we should have more 3 day weeks and 4 day weekends. I am completely okay with this set up! Now, I know that Thanksgiving is only 2 days away which means only 3 days until it is socially acceptable to start decorating for Christmas!!! Seeing as though I don't follow the norm this year and I have a limited time left in my home for Christmas decor {read this post for more info}, I have already Decked the Halls of the Gougler household! I didn't go crazy on decor this year since we're in a transitional period. That just means next year, I'm going ALLLL out! PS, Don't judge me, I deserve to decorate early since it all has to come down by December 15th!

Here are some shots around the house!

Name Block How To:

The name block stocking holders and "The Gouglers" sign from yesterday's post I made last year. This was an idea I got from my very creative momma! It's super easy and a great gift to give friends or party hosts during the Holiday season.

All you need are Alphabet blocks which you can find in the Toy section at most stores {or there are some in the dollar section at Target right now!}; ornaments for miniature Christmas trees found at Hobby Lobby, Michael's, Target, etc.; other small Christmas-y decorations; possibly paint pens; and a hot glue gun!

Start by gluing together your blocks to spell out the desired name. Sometimes, you'll get several letters beside each other in the same color, use the paint pens to carefully color over the letters and the border. {The green "M" in "AMY" above was originally blue!} Once the glue has dried and your letters are the desired colors, arrange your mini ornaments and decorations on top of the blocks {as seen in yesterday's post or in the first picture above}. Once you know where each part will go, hot glue them in place. And TA-DAAA! You have an awesome new Christmas decoration to live in your home or to give as a gift! Super fun, easy and unique!

Now drum roll please... here are the pictures of our Christmas tree!
NOTE: We waited until Sunday to decorate our tree. We're leaving tomorrow for Houston and won't be back until December 5th leaving only 10 days after that with our tree {hence it's early arrival}.

The lights are on and of course Maggie wanted to be in the way in the picture.

My handsome hubby cooperating and posing for the camera. Sunday was a jammies/Packers football day :)

All done and beautiful! I can't wait to get a bigger/real tree next year in our OWN HOME!

Family pic - Maggie is not cooperating laying on the ground.

Fun shot from the ground up!

I hope y'all are having a lovey Tuesday! I'm looking forward to all of the holiday/Houston/house hunting posts to come over the next 2 weeks. It's already an exciting time of year and now I have even more to stress over be excited about! Have a wonderful rest of the day, 5pm Wednesday will be here before we know it!

Until next time...

Miscellany Monday Weekend Recap

It's Monday already??? Well, thank goodness it is a short work week because I have so much that I am looking forward too starting Wednesday night! Today I am linking up with Lower Case Letters for Miscellany Monday to give you my weekend recap!

On Friday I...
  1. ...made it back to Pittsburgh safe and sound! Maria met JP and I at our house after JP picked me up from the airport, and we promptly headed downtown for Pittsburgh Light Up the Night! All the downtown buildings left their lights on as well as PNC Park and Heinz Field! There was a fireworks display that we were able to catch the top half of. The fireworks were a little low and we had a building in the way.
  2. ...hit the bars, after the fireworks of course. We had a few drinks at a sports bar before heading to a country bar next door!
On Saturday I...
  1. ...hit the trail with Maggie after a lazy morning and squeezed in a 4 mile run!
  2. ...had a quick shopping trip to Bed Bath and Beyond followed by a tasty lunch at my fave, Panera Bread.
  3. ...watched Texas A&M actually win a football game! Then Maria and Matt came over to watch the Ohio State vs. Penn State game. Maria is an OSU alum and Matt a Penn State alum, so JP and I provided a neutral site to view the game :)
  4. ...saw Harry Potter 7 Part 2! Well, I had alredy seen it in theaters twice, but it's been a while and now I own EVERY SINGLE Harry Potter movie and book! Obsessed? Maybe a little.
On Sunday I...
  1. ...woke up and hit the gym! My chest and lungs have been hurting while running ever since I was sick! I decided to give them another rest and got a great cardio workout on the elliptical for 45 min.
  2. ...went to church with the hubby.
  3. ...watched the Packers go 10-0 at Stone Pepper Grill with the hubby, Matt, Maria and Chris {another Aggie in Pittsburgh!}
  4. ...decorated our Christmas tree and finished decorating the house! Here's a sneak peak...more pictures to come tomorrow :)
  5. ...lounged around the house and snuggled with my loves.
This weekend I...
  1. ...managed to take ZERO pictures aside from the pics of my Christmas decor. Sorry about that folks!
I hope you have a wonderful Monday and a short week/week off!

Until next time...

Reflection

Happy Friday to all! I'm going to scoot out of the office in about an hour to head back to Pittsburgh! I can't wait to get back to see my hubby, puppy and Maria! Today I would usually link up with {long distance loving} for My Friday Fancies, but I would rather focus on something a bit more serious and dear to my heart. Today I want to reflect on an incident that happened 12 years ago to the day. A day that will forever be remembered in infamy in the hearts of all Aggies. Bonfire Collapse.

Bonfire is a HUGE Texas A&M tradition going on for 90 plus years. This is not just any bonfire; this is a bonfire that stands over 40 feet tall. It is always built in the weeks leading up the the Thanksgiving Day game against t.u. {University of Texas} and burns the eve of the big game. Unfortunately, tragedy struck the Texas A&M family when the bonfire collapsed 12 years ago and we lost 12 Aggie lives.

Those fallen Aggies will never be forgotten. A Bonfire Memorial was created to honor their lives and reflect upon the Aggie Spirit. It represents teamwork, leadership and tradition and unites all Aggies. The 12 'Portals' seen below represent the 12 we lost and they point in the direction of their hometowns. There are 27 stones with bronze inlays to represent the 27 that were injured which complete the circle. The bronze represents the Aggie ring which is a common bond between all Aggies past and present. It is a beautiful memorial and tours are given by current students every November so that we will never forget.

To learn more about Aggie Bonfire visit http://bonfire.tamu.edu/.
My friend Lia Joy has also posted a beautiful tribute that you can check out at her blog Life is aMAYESing. She goes into more detail and lived in College Station {home of Texas A&M} when bonfire collapsed.

If you have some time, take a moment of silence or say a quick pray for the Aggie family especially those to were injured, perished and their families. I know how saddening it is for me and I wasn't even an Aggie when this tragedy occurred. That just goes to show how tight the Aggie bond is. For that I am forever grateful. I love the Aggie family and Aggie tradition. This just goes to show that we can come together no matter what. I am especially proud to be a Texas A&M Aggie today.

Until next time...
