Six Month Moon Walk Challenge

I want to take the time to write to everyone about something very important to me. I’ve volunteered to raise money as part of what is called, the 6-Month Moon Walk Challenge. In it, I am part of a team of people committed to walking at least 3 miles a day (let's be honest you know with how competitive that I am, I'm aiming high) for the next six months. When we are all done, my team will have walked 6,800 miles or the circumference of the moon. Thank goodness there are 12 of us to split this distance! There are four other teams taking up the same challenge for four different charities. My team is walking for the Fisher House Foundation. I hope that you’ll volunteer by donating any some of money to help them support our nation’s heroes.

The Fisher House Foundation provides funding to build houses next to VA hospitals. These houses are called Fisher Houses and they offer a place of comfort and community by enabling military families to be close during hospitalization for an illness, disease, or injury. No family is charged for their stay. Each house offers a home-like environment with the amenities of a hotel.

At the Fisher House, families find themselves in a supportive community both among the Fisher House staff and the other Fisher House families from around the nation. The comfort and warmth provided during some extremely stressful times is what the Fisher Houses do best.

Fisher House is very dear to me seeing as though both of my parents were in the military. Heck, I was even born on an Army base, St. Stewart in Georgia! Luckily for me, both of my parents did not suffer any illness or injuries, but I'm sure they had many friends that did. My mom was a nurse in the Army and tended to many.

If you ever wondered how you might be able to say thank you to our current military volunteers or to the many military veterans who have already finished their tours of duty, giving to the Fisher House Foundation is one of the best. And your money won’t go to waste as the Fisher House Foundation is rated a four star charity by Charity Navigator. By donating via this link: your money will go directly to the Fisher House Foundation and our team will get credit for it too.

Thank you so much for taking the time to consider Fisher House as your charity of choice and feel free to forward to anyone you might think would like to know about this organization.

I promise I won't coming around asking anyone for money because this isn't what it's all about. If you chose to give to this amazing charity, I thank you greatly. Every little bit counts and I couldn't think of a better way to spread the word about Logica's project and this amazing organization than by posting it on my blog. I mean, this is my way of keeping in touch with everyone and making sure you are all up to date on my crazy life adventures and this is one of them! I'll have you know that 3 miles = 6,000 steps. I aim for at least 10,000 a day and FYI, when I run 3 miles, I don't get 6,000 steps, more like 4,500 since my strides are longer :) so I really am walking a lot not just running! It's been a fun experience getting to know more employees within my company and making this a competition between the teams! Feel free to ask me if you want to know more!

With love and God bless,
