After: Part 1 of 3

This past weekend, JP and I did a wonderful job of getting everything out of boxes and into place. We still have a few areas to work on which are the guest bedroom and bathroom. That's where all of our "extra" stuff was at our apartment, so now we much figure out where to store our meaningful junk and what we just don't need. I'm working on a few projects for decorating the downstairs which will come later so today I will debut the 2nd floor which is the main floor of our home!

This is the view of the living room from when you first walk up the stairs.

Turn to the right and you will see this!

Close up of the wall art! The phrases were given to us by Ms. Robin when she threw us our couples shower!

Close up of the book case. The frame on the top shelf is from my brother Ben and his best friend Ryan. The frame itself if actually a mirror with a beautiful quote on the bottom :)

View of the living room from behind the couch.

The other corner behind the couch. We're hoping to get a nice table to put beneath the plate art.

View of the living room from inside the kitchen! It's such an open space! No wonder why this is Maggie's favorite floor to be on.

View of the kitchen from the living room.

Kitchen from the table. I love my red walls!

Our clock and lab calendar. We are working on creating a wine cork board using corks from all of our wine bottles. Once this gets finished, it will go beneath the clock and the calendar will be moved elsewhere.

Our little table. A new kitchen table is next on my new furniture list!

View of the dining area from the kitchen.

There is still a lot of wall space over by the table and I dont' have anything quite large enough to fill the area! As you can see, there are still a few pictures that need to find a home and a box full of "parts" waiting to find its proper place. We actually met with our landlords last night, Michael and Stephanie. They are awesome! Such a nice couple and totally laid back. Stephanie gave me some tips on what she did to fill that wall space so hopefully I will find something soon to go there.

Enough about my second floor and on to Miss Maggie. She is doing wonderful. The past two days she has had a total of 2 accidents in the house! She's only been here for a week and is making vast improvements. She is so smart and mischievous which means she definitely knows the word 'NO!' Here are a few new pictures I've taken.

Dancing with Mom!

I can't get this to turn, but I take her on a walk every day at lunch time for about 20 minutes, sometimes longer if she's been a good girl :) She LOVES to run in the snow. I mean, who wants to walk on the street when you can run through snow that is sometimes as tall as you?!?!

I'm heading off to Houston tomorrow to experience the warmer climate and then run! It's supposed to be raining so pray that the weather is sound enough to keep all the runners safe and healthy! I'm not aiming for a new personal record, but instead to finish under 2:15. I don't think it should be too hard, but I don't want to push too hard after the stress of the move and an achy knee.

I am so excited for Nicole to pick me up from the airport, to see my mom, dad, Tricia, Alexis and Dixie, to visit with the Gouglers and to spend time with Julie and Chris!

Until next time...

With love and God bless,
Amy, JP and Maggie

The Pack is Back

That's right! The Green Bay Packers are going to the Super Bowl!!! Now so many people ask me why on earth I am a Packers fan if I've never lived in Wisconsin, so here's the story. My dad is from very northern Illinois, Rockford, IL to be exact. Obviously, one would assume that if you're from Illinois you would be a Bears fan. If anyone has ever met my family or seen my sibiling and I in some sort of game or bet, you would know that we are HIGHLY competitive. It's safe to say, we get this from our dad, well our mom too now that I think about it. Since my dad had 5 other siblings, there obviously had to be some sort of competition and with everyone liking the same football team, this would never work. Half of his sibilings are Bears fans and the other half Packers fans. Luckily, dad picked the Packers and I grew up watching them and cheering for them. Needless to say, yesterday's game agains the Bears was an awesome win for the Pack!

Here is a picture of my daddy and me during the first Bears and Packers game of the season, it also happened to be the day before my birthday! We lost...

JP got me an Aaron Rodgers jersey for my birthday and I got Dad the shirt he's wearing for Christmas 2009!

JP and I watched this weekends epic meeting of the Packers and Bears in our new home of Pittsburgh! Miss Maggie got all dressed up for the occasion as well!

I made her bow out of some green ribbon and yellow fabric I had in my sewing bin! Maggie is doing well. We're still working very hard to get her potty trained. I know it's only been a few days of trying, but it's hard and exhausting! Though we must deal with the mid-morning potty trips, nibbling of the fingers, tinkle on the floor and howling in her cage, she is worth every single bit. We are having a fun time learning as we go with trail and error. She is such a joy to have in the house and always seems to make us smile whether we want to or not :)

This week should be a busy one. We got most of our house put together this weekend and I'm hoping to have it finished up in the enxt day or so! It's really just all the bathroom junk we have left. I'll begin taking after pictures and show you one floor at a time! This Friday I'm heading back to Houston for Sunday's Aramco Houston Half Marathon! It probably won't be my best time since training has been up to par, but I know I'll have a blast. I can't wait to see my friends and to run with Julie Marie Ponder!

Until next time...

With love and God bless,
Amy, JP and Maggie

Meet Maggie

Well, needless to say, it has been a CRAZY week! With moving, unpacking, getting settled and working things have kept us busy...oh and getting a puppy! That's right on Wednesday, January 19th JP and I went to New Philadelphia, Ohio to pick up our little bundle of joy!

Meet Maggie:

We resued Maggie from a puppy rescue center called Heaven to Earth. Their mission is to save as many adoptable puppies as possible mostly from the Amish, farmers and puppy mills. I have been searching for puppies for a while before I came across this amazing rescue center. When I saw Maggie's face, I absolutely fell in love with her and told JP that we had to call. Since we decided we were going to get a dog when we got up to Pittsburgh, he agreed. It may have been sooner than anticipated, but everything happens for a reason. Once I called the shelter, they told me that we would get to see 3-5 puppies to see which one would be the best fit for us. We chose to see Maggie, Molly, Mason and Moose! Maggie was so lovable and friendly and was the most interested in us! Everything fit just right and we were able to take her home. She is a ton of fun and has a ton of personality. She LOVES the snow and is a little mischievous:

Maggie is a nine week old lab and German Shepherd mix and it looks like she is going to be pretty big! Her birthday is November 16th and will be expecting lots of treats and presents :) Her birthday is actually 2 days after our original anniversary. On November 14, 2006, JP and I officially started dating and on November 14, 2008, he got down on one knee and proposed. It's only fitting that Maggie's birthday is right around that date 2 years later. I'm looking forward to what November 14, 2012 has to offer!

Here are some more pictures of Maggie for your viewing pleasure:

Here we are at the rescue center on the day we got her!

My pretty little girl

Getting sleepy

Not the best picture of me since it's almost bedtime, but I wanted a picture with my pup!

Family picture! We're all wearing our fleeces!

She loves playing outside, but since she's so tiny and it's FREEZING here, we got her a little fleece coat to keep her warmer.

"What Mom? I'm not doing anything!" Like I said she's quite a handful and loves to get into things. She's very adventurous which worries me when we're outside, but she's just so much fun!

I hope everyone has a great weekend! JP and I plan on having the house completely in place by Sunday night. Then the after pictures will come! The place is really coming together so far. Next weekend I'll be in Houston for the Houston half marathon. I hope to see some of you while I'm there! Until next time...

With love and God bless,
Amy, JP and Maggie

It's Moving Day

Hooray!!! Our stuff finally arrived in Pittsburgh safe and sound. Our movers were absolutely fantastic and I mean that whole heartedly. I've heard horror stories about people's stuff being broken and lost or issues with the moving van, etc. Everything came back to us in one piece. Literally. Not one thing broken...well not yet at least. Everything has already been removed from the boxes, so now we kind of just have stuff floating around...mostly upstairs in the guest bedroom which basically used to be our "let's just throw everything we don't want out for people to see in there" room. Not a good room to have, but with such little space it made sense. Now we have this beautiful townhome with AMPLE space. I mean, I don't even know what to do with it all, but I've decided that's definitely not a bad thing. More room to grow and more space for our potential puppy to play (more details on puppy to come later this week **fingers crossed**).

Now without further ado, I will show you our 'BEFORE' pictures of the townhome!

First thing you see as you walk in the door...Stairs! JP will tell you that I love stairs. In Barcelona on our honeymoon, there were stairs everywhere. There were also escalators, which we did not take. JP was not always too pleased about that, but stairs are an amazing workout and going up and down our two flights a day give our heart rates a chance to accelerate for that short period of time. Now that is definitely not a bad thing :)

Head down the hall of the first floor and you'll find our game room. We'll be using this as a fitness/puppy room!

The always glorious laundry room...still working on getting the most important part: washer and dryer!

Head up the stairs and to the right is our living room even equiped with a fireplace :)

Turn even further right and you'll see another set of stairs which I'll take you up in a minute.

Turn to the left from the first flight of stairs and you get to our kitchen. I LOVE MY KITCHEN. For those of you that had seen what I called a kitchen in our apartment, you will understand even more why I am in Heaven. I also am in love with the red walls. It matches perfectly with all of my kitchen utensils and decor.

As you can see, to the right of the kitchen is a lovely dining area. It's quite spacious which means we may need a bigger table to satisfy the space :)

Now up the 2nd flight of stairs...

First door on the left is the guest bedroom! The walls are a beautiful sage which will be perfect for the sage and dark purple decor I've been planning on! This isn't a great pic, but you'll see how much bigger it is once there is stuff in it!

Second door on the left: Welcome to my office! This is where I will be spending a majority of my days working from home. I'm not complaining too much. It will be decorated with all of our Aggie gear! Can't wait.

The next door is the guest bath. While there is relatively limited counterspace, the bathroom is pretty spacious. By the way, how to you like that sweet wallpaper?

To the right of the stairs you will find the master bedroom! The blue walls match our bedding which is another reason why it was fate for us to get this townhome. This is the right of the room...

...and this is the left! We each have our own closet (mine is the biggest of course) and so much space for our king size bed. Now follow me through the open door you see,

into the bathroom! Here is my tub, I can't wait to clean it out and take a nice bath in it. It will definitely come in handy after I run the Houston half marathon in less than two weeks!

Here are our sinks. I'm on the left, JP is on the right.

And last, but not least, our shower.

I hope you have enjoyed your tour of the new Gougler home. I look forward to getting everything put in its proper place to show you all the after pictures! I mean, let's face it, it's the after pictures that everyone really wants to see. Hopefully this will be sooner than later. I am a neat freak so I don't foresee clutter and stuff lying around for too long. Until next time...

With love and God bless,
Amy & JP

The BIG Move!

On Wednesday, January 12, 2011, JP and I hopped on a plane and headed up north to our new home in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We couldn't be more excited about this huge change in our lives and we are so thankful that God has placed this challenge in front of us!

For those of you who don't know, JP's job with Shell Oil has uprooted us out of the comfort of our home in Houston and transplanted us in the foreign city of Pittsburgh. I have been blessed and will be keeping my job as the sales operations manager at Logica, but I get to work from home this year! I know that it will present many challenges, but I am ready to except whatever is put in front of me. Since my company is still based in Houston, I'll be traveling back to Houston several times this year! {I know that my parents as well as JP's are very excited about this :)}

We have been pretty busy since we landed in Pittsburgh. Before leaving, we found out that our belongings wouldn't be arriving until Monday the 17th! Yes, that's tomorrow and we've been here since Wednesday! We've been staying at an Extended Stay Suites and trying to get little things done like shopping for some basics: a desk, washer/dryer, decorations for our new home, etc. I'm looking forward to all of our stuff getting here tomorrow so I can start to decorate!!!

Here's a picture of JP in front of our new town home!

My first snow angel in Pittsburgh

It's so much colder than Texas!

That's all I have for now since this is my first post. I hope to keep all of our friends and family up to date on what is going on in our lives now that we're so far away. We are beyond blessed to have this adventure placed in front of us. This is the opportunity for us to grow closer to each other and God and learn to rely solely on each other.

Expects some new posts on our new home, our potential puppy and so much more!

With love and God Bless,
Amy and JP
